Our trip to Blighty has finished and we are back on French soil once again.
We had a great time with friends and family but it was rather exhausting trying to fit it all in. It was good to eat a great 'British' curry too and if anyone is ever near Haslemere in Surrey looking for good tucker then a trip to Shahanaz is defiantly called for. The food was great. I am assured by our friends (professional curry eaters) who came with us to celebrate Donna's birthday that this is indeed fine cuisine.
The journey back was probably the best ever and even the trip from Farnham to Dover to catch our Speed Ferry was good. The weather clear and dry.
But what a contrast with the roads. We travelled A3 then M25 on what is a notoriously busy route. Whilst we kept going most of the time the claustrophobia was tangible being crowded by so many cars and lorries. By contrast, on the French side and for 99.9% of the 560 miles the traffic was light and in many cases we were the only cars on the road.
I like to drive and the experience is made much more pleasurable when conditions are this good.
If you are planning a trip down to South West France you might consider a stop over on the way down.
I will be working out a number of route maps in the near future to link in to the side bar for planning purposes.
