It may have taken me more than three days to do and that is with help but the chimney is now finished.I wrote previously about the problems with the 'draw' on the chimney and how the house filled with smoke.
It was clear that the chimney needed extending so with the help of Richard our neighbour I secured another terracotta section to extend the chimney and improve the draw and added a cowl.
The flexible chimney liner is secured with a collar that grips the liner and the collar then seats on the top of the terracotta posts. I then stuck an enox weather cap to stop any rubbish and water going down the out side of the liner.
At the bottom I have a cleaning.rodding angle. All of the fittings are just push in and now with the right 'draw' on the chimney there are no leaks.
Before because of the lack of draw the back draft caused all of the fittings to allow smoke back through.
Yesterday evening I used the range to cook a full meal which was very satisfying and it heated the kitchen fantastically. The only disappointment was, the lack of warm air circulation to the rest of the house. We were hoping that it would provide warmth to the bedroom above and the adjacent snug but it did not achieve this!
