Most of southern Europe has experienced the exact opposite of the British summer and are enduring almost life threatening high temperatures.
If you are looking to get away on a late break either late summer or early autumn then we have some space in September and October and why not even November. We sat out in the middle of November last year and ate out lunch in temperatures of the middle twenties (although of course I cannot guarantee that this autumn)
