When I say that it is complete, I am not quite correct because I have to put a softwood trim around the top and make a modification for a Belfast sink and electrical sockets.
Not everyone would want these mods if they had the same unit in their kitchen.
We will see how it goes but if you are living in the Lot et Garonne, the Lot or the Dordogne and would like one for your kitchen (made to measure) then give me a call or send me an email.

Update 07 October 2011: It's been three and a half years since we moved into our kitchen and started to use the island unit. As you can see it's had a new coat of paint (this matches our Godin woodburner and farmhouse stove).
The oak on the top, which was treated with a heatproof water-based sealant (V33 Cuisine & bains) together with the exposure to moisture and air, has gone a lovely golden colour and the wood grain stands out prominently.
