Booking your French holiday

sunset monflanquin
Thank you for visiting us at Perigord Vacance.

You have come to the right place if you are looking to book a holiday for 2010.

We think that our little spot is special and we hope that if you come, you will agree.

Why not come with the hope of seeing one of many Hen Harrier as they make regular feeding flights around our farm.

Of course, we are not going to make promises but going on previous history, daily sightings are the norm with up to three or four separate fly pasts in a day.

Your chance to win a week's holiday in France

Sun_025_2_2I have just added a competition to my Landscape Juice gardening site. The winner will win a week for up to four people in our Pigeonnaire in June 2009. "The prize will be one week accommodation only for a party of up to four people in the stunning Pigeonnaire on our farm situated in the Lot et Garonne in South West France. Sun_025_2The farm is set in 20 acres of stunning unspoilt countryside which is teeming with wildlife and wild flowers. You can expect to see an assortment of wild Orchid as well as the possibility of young deer, the Hopoe or even baby Boar (but you have to be especially lucky there)."

It's all included in the price

We have met some lovely people this year what was our first season and also made some great friends which was of our goals.

The feedback and compliments have made the experience all the more special and we really look forward to next year and hopefully have a bit more rest rather than work and hopefully get involved in some different things.

We would like to take the kid's away for a holiday - that may sound a strange thing to say but we have not had a proper family holiday away from here since we arrived and I think it does not matter what you do and where you live there are always times when a change of scenery and atmosphere will do some good.

What you see is what you get.

Chatting to guests we have discovered that many gite owners are hiding extras away to surprise their guests with. For example here at Perigord Vacance you will not pay extra for linen, bathroom towels or pool towels.

The kitchen is always stocked with coffee and tea for your arrival and we normally put in a few bits for your arrival especially if it is a later arrival and you do not get chance to shop on the way down.

There is free use of a washing machine, iron and board as well with dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid supplied too.

We believe, unless you make a special request that what you see is what you get with no extras.
We would like our guests to come here and enjoy the experience to the full without the worry of being caught out.

We have not set the tariff for 2008 as yet but will do shortly. One thing is for sure it will be the price of the stay and nothing added.

Availability for self catering in France for late summer.

Now that the summer has picked up it looks like many people are looking to get away from the torrential memories of the English summer.

Most of southern Europe has experienced the exact opposite of the British summer and are enduring almost life threatening high temperatures.

Summer is coming..................honest!

Bowood_041 We could all be forgiven for thinking that summer is going to by-pass us this year after such a dreadful June.
I have just returned from the UK after a week playing golf in Cornwall and I must say it was very wet for 75% of the time.

St Mellion, the previous home of the Benson and Hedges International Open, was almost un-playable last Sunday and I am sure, if we had not all paid for it we would have turned round and gone elsewhere.

The course is built on clay and many of the fairways are built into valley's and hollows so the water just runs into the low areas.

It was fun though and nice to get away and have a break from the building and blogging.

Soar over the Dordogne

Balloon The morning is so bright  and the air still.

It is the perfect time to jump inside the basket slung beneath a balloon and take a birds eye view of the Dordogne.

Montgolfieres, the balloon flight company provide flights over the Dordogne valley and if you have the head it could be the best way to experience this unique landscape.

Online Calendar

Not so long back it was pointed out to me that Rentcalendar seems to have gone out of business with users not being able to update their holiday availability.

As well as using the complicated (from a users perspective) French Connections on line availability calendar I turned to Availcheck which offers a very simple to use FREE on line calendar.

It always pays to keep two copies running as it proved when Rentcalendar went AWOL.

Using a paper backup is rather old fashioned but it works too.
